Junior Coach-In-Training

Help kids build confidence, teamwork, and life skills while learning how to become a youth pickleball coach.

📍 Tucson, Arizona

🕒 Part-Time

💰 Paid Position - $15 - $18 / Session

Why This Role Matters

Ready Set Pickle is growing, and we’re looking for dependable people who genuinely enjoy working with kids and want to learn how to coach.

This is an entry-level paid training role. You do not need to be ready to lead a class on day one. Junior Coaches work alongside lead coaches to help create a safe, fun, and organized environment where kids can learn pickleball, build confidence, and stay active.

We can teach the sport. We can teach the drills. We can teach the structure.

What we need from you is care, patience, reliability, energy, and the willingness to learn.

What You’ll Do

As a Junior Coach-in-Training, you’ll support our lead coaches during afterschool programs, clinics, camps, and community events.

Support the Lead Coach

  • Help set up and clean up equipment before and after sessions.

  • Help organize kids into groups, lines, rotations, and games.

  • Assist with beginner-friendly drills and activities.

  • Help keep kids engaged, encouraged, and moving.

  • Support shy, nervous, or newer players so they feel included.

Help Create an Outstanding Experience

  • Bring positive energy to every session.

  • Encourage teamwork, confidence, and good sportsmanship.

  • Help maintain a safe and respectful environment.

  • Communicate clearly with kids, coaches, and program staff.

  • Follow Ready Set Pickle lesson plans, safety rules, and coaching expectations.

Learn How to Coach

  • Learn pickleball basics, including serving, dinking, volleys, scoring, rules, and simple drills.

  • Receive training and feedback from lead coaches.

  • Grow your confidence leading small groups and activities.

  • Build toward future assistant coach or youth coach opportunities.

Every practice is about more than teaching pickleball. It’s about creating an experience that students look forward to each week and one that parents trust.

You’ll Thrive Here If…

This role is for someone who may be newer to coaching, but has the right attitude.

You’ll be a great fit if you:

  • Genuinely enjoy working with kids.

  • Are dependable, punctual, and willing to show up consistently.

  • Are patient, positive, and encouraging.

  • Are comfortable being active and helping kids stay engaged.

  • Can follow instructions and take feedback.

  • Communicate respectfully with kids, parents, and other coaches.

  • Want to learn pickleball and grow as a coach.

  • Understand that safety and trust come first.

New to Pickleball or Coaching?

That’s okay.

This role was created for people who care about kids and want to learn. You do not need to be an experienced pickleball player to apply for the Junior Coach-in-Training role.

You will not be expected to run a class by yourself right away. You’ll start by assisting lead coaches, learning our curriculum, helping with drills and games, and building confidence over time.

Pickleball can be taught.

Caring about kids, being reliable, and showing up with the right attitude matter most.
