Why This Role Matters
Every afternoon, kids step onto our courts with different personalities, confidence levels, and abilities. Some are trying pickleball for the first time, while others are simply looking for a place where they feel included, supported, and encouraged.
As a Volunteer Coach, you’ll play an important role in creating that experience. Whether you’re helping run a drill, cheering on a student, or simply offering encouragement during a game, your presence can have a lasting impact on a child’s confidence and enjoyment of sports.
You don’t need to be a pickleball expert. What matters most is your willingness to show up, support our students, and help create an environment where every child feels welcome.
What You’ll Do
As a Volunteer Coach, you’ll work alongside our coaching staff to help create a fun, safe, and engaging experience for every student.
Support Our Coaches (or Lead)
Assist lead coaches during afterschool programs, clinics, camps, and community events.
Help demonstrate beginner pickleball skills and encourage students as they learn.
Support students during drills, games, and friendly match play.
Help keep students engaged and having fun throughout each session.
Encourage & Mentor
Celebrate effort, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Help create a welcoming environment where every child feels included.
Encourage students to stay active, positive, and confident.
Be another trusted adult who helps kids succeed both on and off the court.
Help Keep Programs Running Smoothly
Assist with setting up and putting away equipment.
Help keep groups organized during activities.
Follow Ready Set Pickle safety standards and child protection policies.
Represent Ready Set Pickle in a positive and professional manner.

Don’t Know Pickleball Yet?
That’s completely okay.
Many of our volunteers have never coached pickleball before. If you’re excited about working with kids, we’ll teach you the game, our coaching style, and everything you need to know before stepping onto the court.
We can teach pickleball.
We can’t teach someone to genuinely care about kids—and that’s what we’re looking for most.
