Week 6 – Two-Bounce Rule & Rally Readiness (Oct 13–17, 2025)

This week’s sessions introduced one of the most important pickleball concepts—the two-bounce rule! Players learned how to connect serves, returns, and rallies while improving teamwork, patience, and communication. Through fast-paced drills, fun reaction games, and mini matches, every student gained confidence keeping the ball in play and supporting their teammates.

This Week’s Focus: Two-Bounce Rule & Rally Readiness

Future Aces (Kindergarten–2nd Grade)

Chunk 1 (20 min) – The Two-Bounce Rule

  • Main (12 min): “Serve–Return–Drop” sequence—count “1 bounce, 2 bounce, go!” aloud to build timing.

    • Sideline: Bounce & Count solo challenge.

  • Fun (6 min): Freeze Bounce — stop mid-bounce; funniest pose wins.

Chunk 2 (20 min) – Rally Together

  • Main (12 min): Cooperative 3-Hit Rally — serve, return, rally softly 3+ shots.

    • Sideline: Serve & Catch challenge (count accurate serves).

  • Fun (6 min): Team Rally Race — first to 10 team hits chooses silly team name.

Chunk 3 (20 min) – First Game Flow

  • Main (12 min): Mini Games (2v2) to 3 points; focus on rally consistency over scoring.

    • Sideline: Balloon Volley while waiting.

  • Fun (6 min): Kids vs Coach Rally — reach 10 team hits before coach scores.

Future Aces (Grades 3–8)

Chunk 1 (20 min) – Rally Build-Up

  • Main (12 min): Serve–Return–Rally Drill — two bounces before volley; move to kitchen line together.

    • Sideline: Wall Rally Builder 10-hit forehand/backhand challenge.

  • Fun (6 min): Pickleball Simon Says — serve, return, dink, freeze!

Chunk 2 (20 min) – Game Transitions

  • Main (12 min): “Drop & Move” Drill — hit → recover → advance to net.

    • Sideline: Serve Targets challenge.

  • Fun (6 min): Two-Bounce Tag — move only after two bounces to lock in concept.

Chunk 3 (20 min) – Game Play & Awareness

  • Main (12 min): Controlled Mini Matches (2v2 to 5 points) using correct serve/return/bounce order.

    • Sideline: Ref + Rally — keep score and call bounces.

  • Fun (6 min): King of the Court (Co-Op Style) — rally 5+ to rotate up; focus on teamwork.

Our players really grasped the two-bounce rule this week and built stronger rally awareness. Younger groups celebrated team rallies, while older students practiced movement, patience, and control during real play. Next week, we’ll push further into net awareness and shot placement for confident, strategic play.
